BECAUSE HE LIVES!
Scripture:
"If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile;
you are still in your sins.…If only for this life we
have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more
than all men" (1 Corinthians 15:17)
"Because I live, you also will live" (John 14:19)
Reflection:
Because Jesus Christ lives, because of His
resurrection, I will also live, forever!
Without Jesus Christ, my life is merely
prolonged death. With Jesus Christ I have
eternal life which most definitely changes my life
on earth.
Because Christ lives, my life has changed.
I'm no longer overly aggressive, I'm no longer
bad tempered, I'm at peace with myself and
others. Because He lives, I have learned how
to love others. Because He lives, I can live
with my imperfections and I am not bound to
them.
Not only do I have eternity to look forward to,
but i have the spirit, the strength, and the
power to have a loving and right relationship
with God and with others, right now in my
daily life.
Jesus Christ is my hope for the future and
my trust for each day.
ALL PRAISE TO HIM!
"Because He lives I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future
And life is worth the living just because He lives"

I HAD A DIFFERENT DRUG PROBLEM
Randy and Melanie Bordelon
The other day, someone at a store in our town read that
a Methamphetamine lab had been found in a old farmhouse
in the adjoining county and he asked me a rhetorical
question, "Why didn't we have a drug problem when you
and I were growing up?"
I replied, I had a drug problem when I was young: I was
drug to church on Sunday morning. I was drug to
church for weddings and funerals. I was drug to family
reunions and community socials no matter the weather.
I was drug by my ears when I was disrespectful to
adults. I was also drug to the woodshed when I
disobeyed my parents, told a lie, brought home a bad
report card, did not speak with respect, spoke ill of the
teacher or the preacher, or if I didn't put forth my best
effort in everything that was asked of me.
I was drug to the kitchen sink to have my mouth
washed out with soap if i uttered a profanity. I was
drug out to pull weeds in mom's garden and flower
beds and cockleburs out of dad's fields. I was drug
to the homes of family, friends and neighbors to help
out some poor soul who had no one to mow the yard,
repair the clothesline, or chop some firewood, and, if
my mother had ever known that I took a single dime as
a tip for this kindness, she would have drug me back to
the woodshed.
Those drugs are still in my veins and they affect my
behavior in everything I do, say or think. They are
stronger than cocaine, crack or heroin; and, if today's
children had this kind of drug problem, America would
be a better place.
God bless the parents who drugged us.

LOVE THOSE CHURCH LADIES
They're Back! Those wonderful Church Bulletins!
Thank God for church ladies with typewriters...
These sentences actually appeared in church
bulletins or were announced in church services:
The Fasting & Prayer Conference includes meals.
The sermon this morning: 'Jesus Walks on the
Water.' The sermon tonight: 'Searching for Jesus.'
Ladies, don't forget the rummage sale. It's a
chance to get rid of those things not worth
keeping around the house. Bring your husbands.
Remember in prayer the many who are sick
of our community. Smile at someone who is
hard to love. Say 'Hell' to someone who doesn't
care much about you.
Don't let worry kill you off - let the Church help.
Miss Charlene Mason sang 'I will not pass this
way again,' giving obvious pleasure to the
congregation.
For those of you who have children and don't
know it, we have a nursery downstairs.
Next Thursday there will be tryouts for the choir.
They need all the help they can get.
Irving Benson and Jessie Carter were married
on October 24 in the church. So ends a
friendship that began in their school days.

evening in the church hall. Music will follow.

topic will be 'What Is Hell?' Come early
and listen to our choir practice

due to the addition of several new members
and to the deterioration of some older ones.
